Type of Institution: Private comprehensive.
Degrees Available: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Business Administration in day, evening and weekend class sessions. Programs of study include accounting, aerospace systems technology, applied mathematics, aviation management, biology, chemistry, communication arts, computer information systems, computer science, earth science, economics, elementary education, English, environmental sciences, graphic design and digital arts, gerontology, finance, history, humanities, management, marketing, mathematics, music, natural sciences and mathematics, philosophy, political science, professional and liberal studies, psychology, romance languages, secondary education certification, social sciences, social work concentration, sociology-anthropology, special education, sport management, and visual arts. Master's degrees are offered in Liberal Studies, Integrated Mathematics and Science Education, Business Administration, and Education.  A doctoral degree is offered in educational administration.
Forms of Credit Recognized: American Institute of Banking, Grumman Data Systems Institute, Police Academy, Fireman's Academy (NYC), Dale Carnegie & Associates, F.A.A. Air Traffic Control Specialist, F.A.A. Technicians, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Professional Secretary, Vocational Teachers, Child Development Certificate, Central Suffolk Hospital Radiologic Technology Program. Entering students may receive up to 30 credits toward their Bachelor's degree upon registering in a degree program at Dowling College by presenting satisfactory scores on any or all of the following examinations: AP, CPE, CLEP, United States Armed Forces Institute Level Two Examination USAF1 or DANTES, Dowling College departmental examinations in certain subjects not incorporated in the above examinations. Credit awarded varies with chosen program of study.
Additional Information: The Dowling Institute serves as the consulting arm of the College and fosters partnerships between the College and business, government agencies, community organizations, and other educational organizations. Faculty and staff consultants design effective programs tailored to meet the needs of individual organizations. In addition to offering customized training programs and consulting, the Dowling Institute provides continuing education programs. These programs are designed to meet the needs of practicing professionals and individuals interested in personal enrichment. These courses are not for credit. The Dowling Institute offers customized on-site degree and non-degree programs, locally, nationally, and internationally.
