Type of Institution: Private Comprehensive.
Degrees Available: Biola University offers the BOLD program to adults seeking to complete a bachelor's degree in a once-per-week (evening or weekend), 18-month, small-group format, at multiple campuses across southern California. The B.S. in Organizational Leadership is interdisciplinary, focusing on business and leadership development, and includes course work in psychology, ethics, biblical studies, and communication skills. The B.A. in Psychology has an intentional emphasis on the integration of psychology and Christianity, and is designed to prepare the student for maximum post-graduate opportunities, including prerequisite coursework necessary for most clinical graduate programs.  Specific courses designed to facilitate integration are Psychology and Christian Thought, Psychology of Spiritual Development, and Psychology of Religious Experience.  These courses are taught by Christian faculty from a broad range of professional and academic backgrounds. General education courses are also available.
Forms of Credit Recognized: At the undergraduate level, Biola is able to award credit based on these measurements of noncollegiate learning: proficiency exams (CLEP/DANTES, AP, IB); military experiences recommended for credit by ACE; and prior experiential learning (including formal noncollegiate course work recommended for credit by ACE CCRS and National PONSI, as well as individualized assessment of informal learning). Maximum units possible: proficiency exams, 32 units; experiential learning, 30 units; military education, no maximum. Credits awarded must be in keeping with general curricular offerings of the University. Credit is awarded only to students enrolled in the University who meet residence requirements; other limitations can be explained upon request.
Additional Information: The mission of Biola University is biblically centered education, scholarship, and service; equipping men and women in mind and character to impact the world for Jesus Christ. The School of Professional Studies was created to serve nontraditional students through programs such as BOLD. Locations in La Mirada, Inglewood, Laguna Hills, Vista, Thousand Oaks, and Chino.
