Type of Institution: Public 4 -Year External Degree.
Degrees Available: Associate in Arts and Associate in Science, both in General Studies; Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in General Studies. Baccalaureate concentrations include Liberal and Individualized Studies, Business Administration, Child Study, Communication, Computer Science, Engineering Studies, Fire Technology, Health Care Administration, Human Services, Public Safety Administration, and Technology Studies.
Forms of Credit Recognized: In addition to credit earned through courses taken at regionally accredited colleges and universities, the College will award credit based on the following measurements of noncollegiate learning: nationally standardized examinations in the DANTES, CLEP, Excelsior College, AP and GRE Subject tests programs; formal noncollegiate course work for which credit recommendations have been established by National PONSI and the ACE CCRS program; military national experiences recommended for credit by ACE; portfolio assessment; and contract learning. There is no limit to any of these forms of credit.
Additional Information: Charter Oak offers approximately 200 distance learning courses. Each student is assigned an academic counselor who helps to plan an individualized program of studies to complete degree requirements.

Under "Degrees Available," the list of degree programs generally contains those that are designed to accommodate working adults.

Under "Type of Institution," Comprehensive refers to an institution that offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
